What is your typical day like?
May 21, 2010

Whether you work in the smallest or largest practice in the area, a veterinary technician is an amazing asset to have. I chose to write about my typical day [in Veterinary Technician, May 2010] because I wanted technicians to see how significant their role can be in their hospital. It is important to realize all the things that we do that keep the day going. Everybody has their own talent, which combined with those of our team can make even the craziest day run like a well-oiled machine. So, what is your “typical” day like? I know this is kind of a weird question. Let’s face it, no day in veterinary medicine is typical. Everyday there is a new client, a new patient, and a new case to learn about. Just think about it. What do you normally do during a regular workday? What are your hospital dynamics like? What makes your hospital run smoothly? Is there a particular staff member, patient, or client that makes your day a little brighter? What do you do to avoid burn-out and keep up morale? What do you do to keep organized? What extra steps do you take to make your skills and knowledge invaluable? Was there a day recently that will stand out in your memory? If so, why?
